I’ve seen (and designed) a lot of show flyers, handbills, and posters in my day. The myriad of artistic styles and reproduction techniques make each flyer interesting in it’s own right. There’s the cut-paste-photocopy, there’s the death-metal photoshop, there’s the hand-inked, there’s the bio-hazard (I bled/cut/puked etc. on this flyer). But hands-down the most excellent flyers I see use a silk screen onto cardstock. This method results in crystal clear text, vivid colors, and detailed art like none other.

While browsing through pictures of Matt Pike playing High on Fire shows, I stumbled upon this:

The colors are awesome. The layout is awesome. The font is awesome. The mutants are awesome. And the whole thing is hand silk screened. I thought, ‘this is the perfect style for our faceplate design’.

After some research I found Fred at South of Heaven Press who originally designed the flyer. Turns out he has done flyers for Eyehategod, Doomriders, Midnight (who totally RIP), Weedeater, Hammers of Misfortune and tons of other rad bands! After a bit of back and forth, he is on board and working on the Faceplate graphics for the White Stallion. Expect a sneak preview of the art in the next month or so. In the meantime, check out some of the other excellent flyers Fred has designed and hand-printed.

We are stoked to work with him and anticipate having the raddest faceplate design ever!
